Markup applies to materials only. Contingency applies to materials, markup, and labor. The optional tax allowance applies to that subtotal plus contingency; adjust it to your job’s requirements. Amounts round to cents.

Scope: complete the work listed above. Excludes permits, hidden damage, and work outside this scope. Confirm access, schedule, payment terms, and any required permits before approval.

What belongs in a good estimate?
The work, in plain English.
Use a line for each part of the job. Enter the quantity in the unit named in the description, the material cost per unit, and the total labor hours for that line. Add disposal, delivery, equipment rental, or subcontracted work as separate items.
The assumptions, too.
State what is included, what is excluded, when the price expires, and how payment works. For an electrical estimate template, list fixtures, circuits, and panel work separately, then clarify permits and inspection responsibilities. Review the scope with the homeowner before work begins.
Jameson does this with his voice and a LiDAR scan.
Deck builder Jameson Haslam describes a workflow where he narrates the job into a voice recorder while capturing the yard with 3D LiDAR. AI turns that context into a detailed homeowner recap about five minutes after he leaves the driveway.
The same inputs drive this calculator: measurements, materials, labor, and scope. A workflow can draft those line items from your site notes, apply your pricing rules, and prepare the estimate for your review. You check the quantities, price, and promises before anything goes to the customer.
This free calculator is manual. It does not record audio or process scans. Want your own voice-to-estimate workflow? I can help connect the tools you already use.
Custom mini-apps start at $400. Hands-on AI training and done-for-you workflows start at $600. We agree on scope before work begins, and you own what we build.
